This may well be the greatest game ever made.

Keeping the universe oppressed, but at least free of non-Romanian, green and terrified mongrels.

You know you’re in their world now from the very first sentence.

Romanii In Spatiu, or Romanians In Space (everything is in Romanian, \tab\tab\tab get used to it)

Apparently the bad guys in this game are Hungarians, the bad blood over the Vienna Accord seemingly extending to the far reaches of outer space. So if fighting the godless Magyars is your thing, sign up for the forum – because as we’ve learned from other adventures in Romanian games development, that’ll probably be the most amusing part.

    You really know that nationalism is a powerful force when you’re speculating that Romania, of all countries, will be the one wandering the universe, conquering all before it. It’s clear that those pissant countries like China or India could never stand up to the unbridled wrath of mighty Romania! Not when we have Dracula on our side, dammit!

    There seems to be a huge controversy regarding our soon-to-be-released game. We are in a FICTIONAL game, containing FICTIONAL storylines. Please leave your petty nationalism out of an otherwise fun game. We appreciate your views and issues on the matter, but please, let politicians handle them, not video games.

    This is obviously a big budget game. According to the banner, they’ve got Tom Hanks and John Glenn signed on. Hanks obviously landed the role because of his performance in “The Terminal.” And Glenn…well I guess he’s been in space.

    The intergalactic war raged on as Romanians quickly subdued every alien race they had encountered.

    You have been assigned to join the 88th fighter squadron, of the 3rd Romanian Fleet, designated Cacanarii. You will be providing cover for larger, less maneuverable cruiser-class vessels in their attempt to overpower the Hungarian forces. If you do well on your assignments, a letter of commendation and a promotion to covert-operations could be yours.

    Follow your destiny.

    I don’t get it. What is the joke here? Is it that Romanians could conquer space? *insert unfettered snickering here* Or that Romanians could make an MMOG? And apparently the goal is to be promoted from fighter peon to Romanian James bond. All we need is precasting and it will be the perfectly Romanian.

    I’d almost swear Lum is a dev for them but last time I checked Romania is not a territory of Korea (yet).

    In to weeks they’ll apologize and said they meant to say Romulans.

    Being romanian, I went to that page and skimmed the posts a bit. The romanian text has a few added sentences compared with the english translations, and they attempt to do some damage control by constantly repeating it is just a joke and they should not be taken seriously. They also made a (not yet translated) romanian statement on 07/10, where they say:

    “Suntem curiosi cum de puteti face zarva, in legatura cu un joc care, de fapt, NU EXISTA. El nu a fost lansat, si daca ar fi fost, NU AR FI FOST COMERCIALIZAT.”

    The english translation would be:

    “We’re amazed how much fuss you can caue regarding a game which, actually, DOES NOT EXIST. It has not been launched, and if it would have been, IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A COMMERCIAL LAUNCH.”

    I also kept the capitalizations. Not sure if they meen it “all” is a joke, as in “the whole game” or the “marketing campaign is a joke”. That’s about all I could figure out, their forum is down.

    Ah Dawn… that brings back memories. That was back in the day that “Shadowbane will pwn Everquest”. I don’t know how many arguments I got into with people over whether or not it existed. I’m still amazed the Glitchless site is still up after all this time. At least these guys admit their game is a fake.
