If I'm not mistakem, Nomad, you're involved with AutoAssualt?

Evangolis, yea, that was Gbob.

And yes, CCP are talking up a part of their design which, is, um, going to force a lot of players to use 3rd party sites to let them sell high-end loot. *thud*

On the Battle of Deep Thoughts idea, I'm considering getting Lum, Raph, and Psychochild in on the next round table blog war. Basically, we pick a generic topic and each of us runs with it, posting at a specified time and date so we can't steal each other's ideas or direction.

The first one we did was on crafting, and produced the following:
Mine: The Role of Crafting in Massively Multiplayer Games
Moorgard's: Crafting in MMOs (Or, \'e2\'80\'9cCan\'e2\'80\'99t We All Just Get Along?\'e2\'80\'9d)
Aggro Me's: Craft This

Lum, email me if you're up for such a discussion. It will probably have to wait until the launch of Echoes of Faydwer so Danuser has time to participate, but it's a lot of fun reading each other's posts.

With regard to Vanguard being brown, grey and purple - WOW has a nicely done albeit cartoony colorful world and happens to be the most successful mmog to date. So why do all the new games go the brown and grey route (although I would call it "brown and green")?

The nicest looking new game I've seen has been Oblivion. I'd play an mmo made with that engine even if the game was shit because the world is so pretty.

I wish I could match Tweety, but... I'm still getting paid for this, and would like to keep it that way. So calling players "nutless assmunchers" is... well, not likely unless I get really drunk. So, we'll see - we weren't really ready for publicity yet, but I guess we'll have to get cracking.

You being not busy: I suggest you duel Raph Koster in a Battle of Deep Thoughts. It\'e2\'80\'99ll be fun!

Lum would just rename the blog "Deep Thoughts: Silent Running" and stop posting.

Yeah, it looks like an experiment mirroring the SOE's mmoroundtable.

Oh yeah, since WoW launched and took our creativity with it. Right.

Or maybe since they schooled everyone else ;p

There are a few classics, like the Tweety Rant, or the "I disagree with what you said" rant (Was that GBob, or some other Bob? Can't remember off hand) that would be worth assembling/linking and discussing the merits and demerits of. I have a friend doing a CR gig ATM, and he hates it. Given that he's a real people person, I think that speaks to some lack in what he/we know about doing CR.

Is there some guide to what works? Not the relatively general stuff, but some detailed info? Maybe a couple of clever but frazzled CR people could sit down and do a CR for Dummies book.

One of the writers is "Tisirin", aka Richard Weil, recently of NCsoft and currently consulting and, apparently, blogging! I suspect Jo and Nomad are also (current) NCsoft community folk.
