    Everyone knows that ALL eastern europeans love make sexytime with girl, pingpong, sunbathe, and play volayball.

    Cohen could be impersonating any of them!

    Actually, Cohen created Borat before Mahir ever became an internet fad. Now, you could argue that some of his schtick got adopted from Mahir, but the idea was definitely already there.

    This would be like Jeff Foxworthy asking Lewis Grizzard to apologize for stealing his schtick. (Assuming Grizzard was still alive, of course. And jewish. Okay, so it was a lousy simile, sue me.)

    Dressing up like a foreigner and play on prejudice was probably invented a while before Cohen and Mahir, I’d say by a few hundred or thousand years. Ofcourse, my take is that Cohen main thing is to use it to expose prejudices of others, while Mahir is a clown.

    I doubt Mahir is serious as much as this might be part of the persona he’s making up, and a chance to get some free publicity and get back on the circuit.
