Well now that people have said it already I think this could easily bring home some of my favorite arcade games except without having the huge cabinet and sensors above your head. In this case I'm thinking of the Boxing game where it senses your head, I believe through heat sensors and Police 911 and Police 911 2 these games all use the same cabinet but they are pretty fun and would make this really an intriguing idea.

@Brask

"I played a really cool FPS in Japan a few years back which involved crouching/dodging behind crates while shooting with the gun. Essentially, it used just such a pressure pad. The feeling of dodging-by-dodging was very effective. It also added greatly to the workout of the game."

That was one of the Time Crisis games.

Always made the front of my ankle sore as hell if I played those games too much.

DaveN, that's the PvPfit. The PvEfit is left button to FoL, right button to cleanse.

I've actually been thinking of buying a Wii now that they're actually in stores on occasion.

I'd also actually try this out, if only because it looks like some of the balance and stretching stuff would force me to add that back in to my normal exercise -- which would be smart considering that stretching is actually important.

I'm with D-one.

My major concern matches DaveN's concern - if the pad is insufficiently wide, it might prove unergonomic and hence unfun. But I'll give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt - I've always been very pleasantly surprised with the thought that goes into their controllers.

I want something I stand on that makes my head hurt when I get hit with a virtual soccer ball in the head! Imagine what bullets must feel like standing on that thing playing Call of Duty!

Lean left to bubble, lean right to hearth.

I think you're right!

Those push-ups looked pretty awkward. Most guys' shoulders look to be significantly broader than the pad.
