eBaying Well Is The Best Revenge

So, Sanya IM’d me the other day asking if I could do her a favor. I was groggy and heading out the door to work, so I said “Uh, sure, I’ll ping when I get back” and then never did.

Luckily, others were on the case.

(Props to Mythic for being good sports.)

Uh, pimping out the link on you blog was the favor, so… thanks!

I’m hearing word that a couple of scientists in Mexico have figured out that MS is caused by one of the childhood disease viruses. I think it is measles, but don’t quote me on this.

They say this discovery should lad to a preventative vaccine and possibly a cure in th next few years.

This may sound like a rhetorical question but it’s not–why would anyone want a Warhammer Online Staff t-shirt? So they can roleplay that they work for Electronic Arts?

  • JJC

For the same reason that people buy *Property Of* style shirts. However this type of thing has far more of a collector appeal to it as well as it’s something not available than a retail shirt.

At the risk of sounding like a cold hearted SOB… would such a purchase be tax deductible in the US? I might be interested if that is the case.

Donors who purchase items at a charity auction may claim a charitable contribution deduction for the excess of the purchase price paid for an item over its fair market value. The donor must be able to show, however, that he or she knew that the value of the item was less than the amount paid.

So I suppose that you get to deduct your bid minus what Sanya could deduct for donating it. The mystery variable is the fair market value of something not available in the marketplace.

Lee – I’ll send you a donation receipt, no problem.

    Thanks everyone!
