What Happens When You Don't Have Official Boards

A case study for your perusal

I followed the link but I’m not sure what I should make of it…

If it isnt VN and its not a guild board it doesnt exist.

I assume the F13 forums got overrun with dissatisfied warhammer players? Its a pretty common occurance if official forums aren’t in place to Main-Tank player angst.

Official forums aren’t a cure-all for this behavior though, obviously, if you a) run a blog/forum, b) have an opinion and c) someone chooses to disagree with it, the same result can happen. You just get the benefit of catching a lot less general gameplay related angst if the official forums are in place.

Who ever runs F13′s boards needs to grow up.

It means either, beware the spam, or beware the censorship.

    Whichever.

Schild did the right thing. Mark Jacobs posts in a few threads there, someone linked it to FoH Or VN and the next thing we have a deluge of new posters ranging from wall of text essays clambering for MJ’s attention to the lolz wez likez toz putz Z’z onz everythingz.

If there were official boards they should be run with Elitist Jerks style moderation, There is a good case study on separating the wheat from the chaff.

As a customer, I don’t like it when they don’t have official forums. I get that it’s bad but hey, that should be the price of doing business in the MMO community. This is a service where customers don’t call customer support to complain, they use forums. What I dislike about it most is that when I have a real need the onus is on me to surf the internet and find the popular board where someone from Mythic “might” read and post replies. I’m not a fan of that idea. If Sony and Blizzard can suck it up and run forums so can Mythic. In my eyes, its a strike against their overall customer service not to have them.

Wow I wasted less of my lifetime by not reading a wall of poo. Nice forum.

What’s funny is. If you had official boards, that thread wouldn’t be closed. No one one be banned, etc. If anything, this is the exact reason unofficial boards are the way to go. Fansites can ban these retards, while companies are just going to placate these retarded customers.

  • Bonedead

Go Mythic. Fight the system! Yeaaah!

    WOOOOO!

  • Belabor

I guess this means MJ won’t return to F13 again.

  • chacmool

excuse my language but f13 is one gigantic circlejerk… i lanced that boil off of my favorites long ago.

Make sure you click the print button at the bottom. Put it up on your wall at work.

  • Freakazoid

I missed the walls of text, but it doesn’t matter. The only thing suprising is why it didn’t happen sooner. Then again, f13 isn’t like an important site or anything. They’re probably on the bottom of a long list of sites worth bum rushing with any sort of message.

wtb screenshots? it’s all been edited out by now…

For those who need a timeline:

    1) One of many threads on f13 discusses what is flawed with WAR.

    2) Mark Jacobs, occasional f13 poster, pops in and drops a few paragraphs.

    3) f13 gives its opinion of WAR to MJ – a discussion of sorts is had.

    4) MJ leaves the thread, probably never to return.

    5) WAR players not on f13 find out that MJ has posted and is apparently replying to suggestions. They bum rush the thread with enough walls of text to build a keep.

    6) f13 gets to removing the debris from a lot of posters who did the drive bys.

    7) Schild plans his revenge on Lum for bringing such things into the open.

… but the key lesson is that the Herald is no replacement for an official forums. MJ has already started to say he doesn’t like the tone in the WAR Alliance forums – which would appear to be the ‘official’ unofficial forums – and won’t be going to it.

Can someone please take away MJ’s access to the internet? He doesn’t appear to be equipped for it in his line of work.
