Ezra Chatterton, the World of Warcraft fan with terminal brain cancer whom Blizzard memorialized in-game, has died.

My son, Ezra Phoenix Chatterton, Ephoenix the Hunter, Squirlanator the Mage, is gone. All we have left in this world are memories of him. Please remember that he was a good person, smart and clever but also very kind, that he loved to play World of Warcraft, that he loved rice pudding and fettucine alfredo, and that he went through so much pain and still found ways to smile all the way to the end. Please remember too the kindness of Blizzard, and the overwhelming love of the WoW community. Without these gifts, Ezra would still have found a way to be happy and optimistic, just not as easily.

Sad to see any one taken by cancer.

Copyed from your link, by johnadams:
“Azeroth lost a mighty warrior this day. This is a loss that leaves a void in the online gaming community that will never be filled. /salute to you on your final logout little buddy.”

The quest he created is in the Tauren newby village. Its the one where the old Tauren in dungarees ask you to find his dog Kyle and feed it. When I did it, I found that the accompanying voice was very odd for a Tauren – now I know why… That quest is his mark on the world of Azeroth, its gonna be in there as long as there is a WoW MMOG.

All I will say is I’m glad they’re sure he was a real person before they memorialized him.

    And rest in peace.

Every WW2OL town has 2 statues in them: one of a WW1-type memorial piller with the names of all WW2OL players who have died, and a golden sheep version (for ANZACs).

Granted it’s a small game, but it would be nice if more MMOG’s did it.

I’d suggest a memorial event in WoW. Godspeed young man, Godspeed.

This is sad news, although I suppose not unexpected. As a parent it reinforces the adage that “they’re not ours to keep, only to borrow, and not always for the rest of our life.”

    Rest in peace, ephoenix.

I thought about Ezra Chatterton every time one of my characters passed through Bloodhoof Village. I’m sorry to hear he’s gone.
