Whine Whine Whine

My latest MMORPG.com column is up on the recent awful year the industry has had. So bad, in fact, I had to break out the Latin.

Is it just me or does Bobby Kotick look remarkably like Tony Blair?

Anyway another spot on article. Amamus queritor.

Good thing I’ve never signed up for Facebook.

I also entirely agree with your views on subscription-RMT double-dipping. If it starts being too much of a trend, I think I’ll turn away from MMO’s.

At least Blizz has kept it to non-essential vanity stuff so far; they haven’t yet gone the route of “$19.95 for a Legendary weapon”.

  • Drey

    Yet.

A wrote a similar article not so long ago. The expression, “great minds think alike” springs to mind :D

For me, a relatively immobile fellow as I was pursuing a degree, the depression started in late 2003.

You should have mentioned Dragon Age’s DLC scheme. Not an MMO, but still the same exploitative idea.

I actually wish more games would go the free/DLC optional route. There are two I can think of off-hand (LoTRO, Warhammer) that I kinda-but-not-$15-a-month-like. There’s Allods which is currently in beta that’s free with a shop coming later. I like it so far, it’s basically WoW but it has interesting art.
