And You Say You Never Get Invited To Anything

An out-of-work social media guru is promoting himself via holding a social media party!

How do I register for this event?
Visit the event page Historian’s Social Media Party and click on Attending. If you’re not a Facebook member, join Facebook first.
I don’t want to use Facebook, now what?
Post a comment here, or send me a message via twitter just use #SocMeParty so I know it is about this.
In what ways can I participate?
You can post a link to your blog or website with a brief non-hypey introduction. You can network (see below) with other people and check out their links. You can even be a fly on the wall (no pun intended) and just chill.

Left undefined is how this is different from the Internet in general. Well, aside from the fact that the Internet was not dedicated to this one guy. Until now. That’s right, if you use the Internet for the next three days, you’re part of his party.

And here on Broken Toys, we party hearty.

This isn’t what I was expecting from the rise of socialism.

Good thing Khrushchev isn’t invited. First he’d say he wants nothing to do with Stalin, then he’d try to pick a fight with Mao, and finally he’d realize he’d be more efficient if he used his shoe as a bludgeon.

In Soviet Russia the Media was Socialized…

Uh.. wait, that one is true…

Serious question: What makes this person a social media guru? From his biography ( http://www.thehistorian.org/biography ), this looks like a guy who has decided he’s an authority on social networking and community management and the game industry because he was a community manager at Acclaim. I say “looks like” because the site doesn’t really give any other info about him. What’s some of the stuff he did at Acclaim? Do we know him under another name or nick?

    Got more info on Historian?

Guys I am totally an authority, and as a demonstration of my authority I am making the internet into my own private party. However, you are all invited, so it’s cool.

Also, I am claiming sole ownership of the United States, but because I am so cool, the people that live there can go on as if nothing has changed.

He actually did work for Acclaim. He was Chronicle of Spellborn’s Community Manager. (http://spellborn.acclaim.com/)

Yeah, you can see why he’s out of a job now.

Poor fellow, to possess an aspirations towards being a resident Internet God, only to face his only success so far is to be on an outmoded team for a Dutch import MMORPG.

Granted, CoS has some features that make it fairly interesting as far as MMORPGs go… not that it its design has anything to do with him.

So, yeah, he’s over-hyping himself up for potential future employers. Yay New Economy.

After Koster developing Facebook games, Garriott too?

Either I’m behind the times, or there’s a brick wall for them right ahead.

    No pun detected either.
