WEB SHATTERS INTO COMPONENT ATOMS; CAPITALISM BLAMED [Author: Lum the Mad]

So is this a big deal, or what?

The interview itself I did manage to read (note to Flashlink: meta tags do not a subscription firewall make) and it wasn’t terribly long or informative. Were it not being charged for, it’s doubtful we would have ever mentioned it.

However, you could say that Funcom, in giving AnarchyHQ an interview that they then charged for, they are basically a business partner with Flashlink/AnarchyHQ. Why don’t they get a cut?

Of course, you could then turn that around and ask if Time gave Jiang Zemin a kickback the last time they asked him about where he bought his shades. Making an honest buck off of journalism isn’t a crime, or vulpines would be criminals.

Still, we’ve crossed, if not a Rubicon, some sort of European river here. I feel vaguely uneasy at the headlong rush of the websites that cover gaming towards… well, the same sort of lack of editorial standards and outright financial corruption as the print mags that cover gaming.

But what do I know, I just rant about video games.
